Delaware document fee
Delaware does not use a conventional retail sales tax for vehicle titling. DMV instead collects a 5.25% document fee. Dealer trade-ins and manufacturer allowances/credits reduce purchase price, while certain private-sale and out-of-state cases can use NADA trade-in value.
Title and registration
The calculator includes a $35 title without lien and $40 annual passenger registration. A lien or alternative-fuel vehicle can increase fees.
Worked example
A $30,000 purchase produces a $1,575 document fee at 5.25%, before title and registration.
