Idaho vehicle sales tax
Idaho applies 6% sales/use tax. Dealer trade-ins and qualifying manufacturer rebates applied to the purchase can reduce taxable price. Private-party purchases use the purchase price and do not receive dealer trade-in treatment.
Title and registration
Passenger registration uses vehicle-age bands and additional EV/PHEV fees. Idaho has a $14 statutory title fee, but county administration fees can increase both title and registration totals.
Worked example
A dealer purchase can subtract a qualifying trade-in before applying the 6% tax; a private purchase generally cannot.
