Kansas state guide
Kansas sales tax
Kansas applies 6.5% state sales tax plus local sales tax. Qualifying trade-ins reduce taxable price, including qualifying private vehicle-for-vehicle trades. Manufacturer rebates applied as part of the purchase can also reduce taxable price under Kansas guidance.
Title and registration
The $10 title fee is included. Registration and property tax are collected through the county treasurer and depend on county and vehicle information.
Worked example
A dealer vehicle sold for $30,000 with a $5,000 qualifying trade-in uses a $25,000 taxable price before the combined state/local rate.
