Connecticut state guide
Connecticut vehicle sales tax
Connecticut generally applies 6.35% sales/use tax, with 7.75% applying to vehicles over $50,000. Licensed-dealer purchases receive full trade-in credit. Private sales use the higher of bill-of-sale value or NADA average trade-in value.
Title and registration
The $25 title fee is known. Passenger registration contains multiple mandatory and vehicle-age-specific fees, so the final registration total remains estimated/manual.
Worked example
For a private purchase, entering the NADA trade-in value lets the calculator use the higher of that value and the bill-of-sale amount.
