Arizona TPT and private sales
Arizona dealer vehicle sales are subject to transaction privilege tax rather than a conventional buyer sales tax. The state retail rate is 5.6% plus county/city rates. Casual private-party vehicle sales are not subject to Arizona use tax.
Title and registration
The calculator includes the $4 title fee plus the $8 registration and $1.50 air-quality baseline. Vehicle License Tax is value- and age-based and remains estimated.
Worked example
For a dealer sale, qualifying trade-in value reduces gross receipts before applying state and local TPT. A casual private-party sale does not use that dealer TPT calculation.
