Wyoming state guide
Wyoming sales/use tax
Wyoming uses a 4% statewide sales-tax component plus county/local tax collected at the rate in the owner principal-residence county. Qualifying trade-in and manufacturer rebate amounts reduce the taxable amount.
Title and registration
Registration combines a $30 state passenger fee with a county fee based on 3% of factory price multiplied by age factors of 60/50/40/30/20/15% for years 1-6+, subject to a $5 county minimum. The proposed 2026 reductions for older vehicles did not pass. From July 1, 2026, EVs add $100 and PHEVs $50. Title is county-clerk administered and remains external.
Worked example
A first-year $40,000 factory-price vehicle has a county registration component of 3% × 60% × $40,000, before the $30 state fee and any applicable fuel decal.
